Who I am.
My name is Jennifer Porteus and I am licensed by the California State Bar to practice as an attorney at law.
I completed my undergraduate education at Dartmouth College, and earned my law degree (JD) from Berkeley Law School (top ten
school nationally) – graduating in the top 5% of my class. I started
law school while in my 30’s (eligible to join the school's
“dinosaur club”) which gave me greater perspective on studying,
learning, and real world application of the law. While in law school,
my coursework had an emphasis on estate planning and tax law.
Professionally
I spent a few years practicing at a boutique law firm in
San Francisco focusing on corporate law, real estate,
tax and estate planning. After my second son was born, I stepped off
the law firm track. More recently I spent a year preparing estate plans
for a local attorney, before starting my own private practice.
